In 2020, the harsh realities of systemic racism became a global conversation. What Black folx have long known was finally brought to light. We faced devastating losses that fueled a powerful movement—amplifying Black voices and the urgent call for both personal and societal change.

From this collective reckoning, three truths emerged:

1. Black folx are open to mental health support.
   The stereotype that Black folks “don’t go to therapy” is a myth. In fact, 75% of participants in a market research survey reported experiences with mental health. The real issue is a lack of access to services that truly meet our needs.

2. Culturally responsive care matters.
   Black folx want providers who are committed to anti-racism, social justice, and culturally competent care. We need spaces where we feel seen, heard, and understood.

3. Cost is one of the biggest barriers.
   Quality mental health care often feels out of reach, especially for a community disproportionately impacted by systemic inequities.

   Reviving Roots Therapy & Wellness started just blocks from where George Floyd was murdered—a place where collective grief called for urgent healing. Today, our home is in Loring Park, Minneapolis, where we continue to serve as a sanctuary for Black wellness, resilience, and renewal.
