Mohamed Abdalla
Administrative Assistant Intern
Mohamed Abdalla is a multidisciplinary Sudanese artist whose work blends memory, healing, and rebellion. Since moving to the U.S. in 2022, he has built a practice rooted in Blackness, migration, resilience, and return—carrying the rhythms and fractures of home into every piece.
At Public Functionary Studios, his work is driven by cultural memory and the clarity of someone rebuilding life from the ground up. He is also the founder of LZRWORLD, an upcycled bag brand rooted in the belief that nothing—and no one—is disposable.
Before art, Mohamed earned a B.A. in Medical Laboratory Sciences, specialized in Microbiology, and gained leadership experience through IFMSA/SIMSA and YALI training in human rights and advocacy. That precision and community focus now shape his creative work. In 2025, he left the predictable path to pursue art fully. His practice today is bold, intimate, and grounded in the idea that creation can be resistance—and healing, a form of power.
