Angela Lawson, LICSW

Outreach Therapist

I am a therapist by trade, but a social worker at heart. I have always been a fierce social justice advocate. I, fundamentally, to my very core, believe in and live every single one of the social work ethics. During my 20+ years of collaborating with children, adolescents, young adults, and families in a variety of roles, I have found that what people often need most is to feel seen, be heard, and have their experiences humanized. My approach is simple: Cultivate a genuine, compassionate, and authentic healing space where you feel safe to show up exactly as you are. Black wellness is deeply important to me because prioritizing our healing is nothing short of revolutionary! Black wellness, for me, means staying rooted in the constant awareness of the incessant toll that racism and systemic oppression inflicts on our physical, mental, and spiritual well-being while also remembering that there are layers of intergenerational trauma and lived experiences embedded in our very DNA. Our healing must be normalized within our communities and supported in spaces that prioritize rest, center laughter and joy, reinforce collective holistic care, and celebrate and encourage us to be our whole, authentic selves. By any means necessary. And without apology. Healing our lineage is our ultimate legacy.
