Marlissa Karpeh, MA (she/her)
Marlissa, based in Minnesota, is a Mental Health Therapist. She is the Founder/Owner of the Liberian Women Empowerment, an organization where Liberian Women are Elevated, Encouraged and Empowered. Marlissa Karpeh is an experienced Art Teacher where contributions have been made to an arts education program informed by art therapy techniques. Marlissa has held the position of Creative Director at Free in Color since May 2019 and has worked as a freelance Art Director/Designer since May 2018. Her life-size paintings are informed by her first-generation immigrant identity and background in mental health work.Karpeh explores the self, other, and context in her figural, richly colored oil and acrylic paintings. As an Art Therapy In, Marlissa focused on family therapy addressing issues such as divorce, anxiety, and conflict, with significant experience in working with families of adopted children. Education includes a Master’s degree in Counseling- Art Therapy from Adler Graduate School and a Bachelor of Fine Arts from St. Cloud State University.
